Captain America #7 - Power & Glory: Hoaxed

Cover image of Captain America volume 3 issue #7

Writer: Mark Waid
Penciler: Dale Eaglesham

Steve continues his battle against the Sensational Hydra/Skrull, while public hysteria breaks out over the skrull threat.

I could add clever commentary, but really, the most important part of this issue is that it doesn't contain underage sex.

I'm almost afraid to ask, but... underage sex? Is this something in Remender's run? I dropped it early on because I thought the writing was bad and the retcon of Steve's father into an abusive asshole was offensive, but apparently I missed the really offensive stuff?

Also, I haven't been disucssing the CA issues because Marvel digital is missing #4-7. And looking at the listing now, it seems they don't have 9-14 either. But at least I've been keeping up with the IM and Avengers reasonably well.

Oh Steve. America is going to let you down over and over. Whenever Steve makes speeches that involve ending injustice and shaping America into what it should be I want to transport him to a reality where he could actually succeed. It would be a different matter if Steve knew his mission was doomed and he believed in the nobility of struggling in the face of inevitable failure. But Steve is vulnerable to disappointment and I want to protect him from the crushing disappointments he is destined to suffer in the future.
