Sorry for the late post, you guys. Monday was a holiday here, and so I, uh, forgot that yesterday was Wednesday.

I think this is the first thing I've read her in and she was very impressive.

Completely butting in to say that I'm glad this is your first experience with Wanda! She's one of my favorite characters and I think this run is really some of her best characterization.

So true! You can tell he cares about his characters as more than plot devices.

When we first launched into this faux-medieval alternate reality I wasn't expecting much in the way of character development or emotional gut punches. I'm sure you can feel the 'but' coming. But Issue 3 has completely overturned my expectations. I am so happy Wanda was able to reclaim her agency. She goes from being a tool to the hero, on top of which Marvel piles the horrible responsibility of being a leader. I don't think I've ever cared so much about Simon. I was this close to crying either from his self sacrifice or the horribly sappy teamwork of all the Avengers coming together and channelling their power through Wanda. Perhaps I got so emotional because I am depressingly conditioned to the infighting of the more recent 616 canon and here we have everyone supporting each other. I was already primed by, "Welcome back old friend."

Random note: Morgan did have a point about Wanda's half-assed training. I would love an AU where Wanda actually studies with Dr. Strange and becomes the ultimate reality shapping sorceress. She really is too powerful to be playing ball with the Avengers.

I agree that this story is especially sweet in light of current 616 canon. There was still some in-fighting, but it never felt insurmountable.
